Bullish Wilfried Nancy does not fear the sack however supporters show fury after loss.

The Celtic boss stated he was not afraid of dismissal, maintaining, “We are extremely close to changing our fortunes,” despite edging perilously close to the exit with a comprehensive setback against their arch-rivals.

Another Collapse Sees Old Firm Disaster

Celtic were in front Rangers at half-time but a collapse after the break allowed the Gers to move level on points with the current league title holders. The former MLS manager, who was appointed from the MLS, has now overseen six setbacks in eight fixtures.

“There is unity with the board,” insisted the manager.

Questioned about whether he was concerned, he responded: “That’s not my focus. My focus is on discovering solutions to aid my players to excel on details.

Protest On Display

Hundreds of supporters made their feelings clear – towards the hierarchy – in their hundreds at full time. The hierarchy are reportedly likely to re-appoint the interim manager, who had a fruitful caretaker period before Nancy was hired, if the Frenchman were sacked.

“Wins and losses [that leads to pressure]. So this is the truth for the moment. But by saying that’s how it is, I am not saying that I am giving up. Not at all. The message is we are on the cusp, really, really close to reverse our form.”

Focus on the Details

He continues to cling to the fact Celtic play well for a half at a time. For instance, but for missed chances they might have been better than 1-0 up. “There were positives except the fact that we haven’t scored our chances,” he said. “I know that we lost, but it's important to stay objective.

“The performance we had at stages was really, really, really high. That happened. I wouldn't say that if it was untrue. That is the reason, in terms of results, I said it's a repeating pattern. Which is why I said that we are really close to a shift in fortunes. Right now: details, details, details.”

“There were a lot of encouraging signs that we did, once more. The issue now it’s about sustaining it. My narrative would change if I didn't believe it. Therefore I am a big believer we will manage to get back on track.”

The Rangers Boss Response

Danny Röhl played down talk of a championship push even after what felt like a statement victory. “Step by step, so we can really build up something here,” he said. “The faith in the group is excellent.”
